Jangan Lewatkan

General Sudirman, the first Commander of the TNI, left a lasting legacy for future generations of TNI soldiers. His exemplary decisions and actions exemplified true heroism and leadership qualities. Born in Purbalingga on January 24, 1916, Sudirman was already respected for his integrity and character when he served as a headmaster of an Islamic school in Solo.

During the Indonesian Independence movement, Sudirman played a key role in leading the PETA forces, which later pledged allegiance to the new republic. He pursued British forces in Magelang and Ambarawa, securing central Java for the Indonesian Republic. Despite facing severe tuberculosis, Sudirman urged President Sukarno to lead guerrilla warfare against Dutch forces in Yogyakarta.

When the Dutch launched a surprise attack on Yogyakarta in 1948, Sudirman’s decision to engage in guerrilla warfare boosted the morale of the nation and the TNI eventually emerged victorious. His actions showcased his courage, sacrifice, and firm leadership, setting a tradition of heroism for future TNI leaders.

General Sudirman’s legacy embodies a fierce commitment to the nation’s interests above all else, emphasizing the importance of sacrifice and honour. His leadership during the guerrilla war against the Dutch solidified the TNI’s reputation as a relentless force dedicated to upholding the nation’s glory.

Overall, General Sudirman’s character and actions as a true warrior-leader continue to inspire generations of TNI soldiers to uphold the values of bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism.
