Prabowo Subianto, who will soon become the President, expressed his disappointment in the habit of Indonesians insulting each other, especially when these insults are directed at leaders without considering their contributions.
During the closing of the 3rd Congress of the National Democrat Party (NasDem) at JCC, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, August 27, Prabowo stated, “I am saddened if we have a tradition of constantly belittling and insulting our leaders.”
He commended President Joko Widodo’s accomplishments, highlighting Jokowi’s leadership in maintaining inflation at 2.5%, an achievement that has garnered admiration from many countries.
Prabowo noted, “Just think, where else can you find that? In the past three years, only a few countries have managed this. And this achievement did not just fall from the sky.”
He also emphasized Indonesia’s rapid recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic under Jokowi’s guidance, underscoring that this success is significant and not a stroke of luck.
“I’m not defending anyone, but I will say what’s right is right, and what’s wrong is wrong,” Prabowo clarified.
In front of NasDem members, Prabowo expressed gratitude to the party for their support and hoped that unity would persist in nation-building efforts.
“Once again, thank you to NasDem for standing by me. We are united, we are working together, and we will show that we are willing and capable of coming together for the people of Indonesia,” Prabowo concluded. (**RR**)
