Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia’s Minister of Defense, and President Joko Widodo recently witnessed a spectacular display of the Indonesian Navy’s fleet in Jakarta Bay. The event took place on Saturday, September 28, aboard the KRI Dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat (RJW-992) and showcased the Navy’s warships and defense equipment through Sailing Pass and Flying Pass demonstrations.
During the event, 55 ships of various sizes participated in the Sailing Pass, while 25 naval aircraft were featured in the Flying Pass for an impressive aerial display. Chief of Naval Staff Muhammad Ali highlighted that all defense equipment used in the event was domestically produced.
As the ships passed by the KRI Dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat, crew members waved to President Jokowi and Minister Prabowo, who were seated together. The ships included MLRF, PKR, and SIGMA-class warships, as well as the iconic KRI Dewa Ruci sailing ship, Combat Boats, and the KRI Cakra 401 submarine.
Aircraft featured in the display were Cassa NC-212, CN 235 MP, helicopters like Bell 505 Jet Ranger X and Panther AS565 MBe, and various other aircraft and UAVs. The naval parade also involved ships from different Indonesian maritime agencies and civilian vessels, with over 500 civilians on board some of the ships.
Moreover, the ceremony included the awarding of the Samkarya Nugraha Medal of Honor to KRI Nanggala-402 and the prestigious Hiu Kencana Brevet to President Jokowi by the Indonesian Navy’s Submarine Unit.
The event was attended by key officials such as Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, State Secretary Pratikno, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
