Several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet recently convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to tackle the issue of laid-off PT Sritex employees. The primary agenda of the meeting was Prabowo’s directive for ministers to find solutions to assist the affected workers. Among the attendees were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
During the meeting, Prasetyo underscored the president’s deep concern for the employees and stressed the urgency of resolving the challenges faced by PT Sritex following its bankruptcy announcement in October 2024. The aim is to reemploy approximately 8,000 workers with a new work scheme in the textile industry. Minister Yassierli praised the curator’s efforts to potentially rehire former Sritex employees within the next two weeks.
Furthermore, Prabowo’s dedication to offering support and guidance is anticipated to bring relief to the affected PT Sritex employees. The Ministry of Manpower is actively safeguarding the rights of PT Sritex Group workers by ensuring they receive proper layoff compensation and other entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently engaged in the process of selecting investors to manage Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, which will ultimately lead to the reemployment of the laid-off workers. This strategic move aims to bring stability to the impacted employees and offer a resolution to their current predicament.
