Prabowo Subianto, the Indonesian Defense Minister and President-elect, recently embarked on his first official visit to Malaysia where he met with the King of Malaysia, His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim on Saturday, September 7.
During the meeting, strategic issues were discussed, with Prabowo highlighting his commitment to exploring more areas of cooperation between Indonesia and Malaysia. He expressed his appreciation for the strong relationship between the two countries and pledged to enhance cooperation, particularly in the defense sector.
Both leaders, who have been close friends for over 40 years since their military training days at Fort Bragg, USA, expressed hope for continued strong bilateral cooperation. They emphasized the significance of the upcoming 44th General Border Committee (GBC) Malindo meeting, aimed at fostering collaboration on border issues.
Prabowo’s visit to Malaysia is part of a series of working trips to other countries including Brunei Darussalam, Laos, and Cambodia, as well as a personal visit to Thailand where he met with former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and the newly elected Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
