Previously, they had limited options for breakfast, but since participating in the MBG program, her child now eagerly finishes every meal provided. Vincencia, who has been benefiting from the free meals for nine days, emphasized the quality and nutritional value of the meals for her child. She also mentioned how the program has helped her family establish better eating habits and manage food distribution throughout the day more effectively.
As a pregnant woman, Vincencia is just one of the many beneficiaries of the MBG program in her village. She appreciates the government’s initiative to provide free and nutritious meals to rural mothers and children, emphasizing the positive impact it has on ensuring adequate protein intake and meal variety for kids. Vincencia expressed her desire for the program to continue long-term, recognizing its vital role in promoting community health.
Operated by the Tambolaka Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), the MBG program in Southwest Sumba focuses on delivering meals to schools and health posts, specifically targeting pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, as well as young children. By using locally sourced ingredients and emphasizing balanced nutrition, the program aims to address health challenges and reduce stunting rates in the region.
