Prabowo Subianto, President of Indonesia, visited Sentosa Funeral Home at RSPAD Gatot Subroto in Central Jakarta to pay his final respects to the late Kwik Kian Gie, a prominent economist and respected national statesman. Upon arrival, President Prabowo was welcomed by Kwik Kian Gie’s relatives before paying his respects in the chamber where the deceased lay in repose. Kwik Kian Gie, known for advocating Pancasila-based economics, passed away at the age of 90 on July 28, 2025. Prabowo considered Kwik not only as an economist but also a friend and mentor who provided valuable insights into the nation’s development. Reflecting on their personal connection, Prabowo shared how Kwik consistently offered advice and thoughtful perspectives over the years. Even in his final days, Kwik remained engaged, sending messages and recommendations to the President. Prabowo expressed his gratitude for Kwik’s contributions and noted Indonesia’s loss of one of its finest sons.
