President Prabowo Subianto has made a commitment to lead Indonesia’s state budget towards a zero-deficit position, stating his dedication during his speech on the 2026 State Budget Bill at the Parliament Complex in Senayan. The draft budget for 2026 includes state spending of Rp 3,786.5 trillion, with projected revenue of Rp 3,147.7 trillion and a targeted fiscal deficit of Rp 638.8 trillion, equivalent to 2.48% of GDP. President Prabowo expressed his ambition to achieve a deficit-free state budget in the future, emphasizing the importance of courage and determination in eliminating budgetary leakages and calling for the support of all political forces in Indonesia. He also highlighted the government’s plans to enhance creative and innovative financing, reduce reliance on the state budget for development funding, and maintain a flexible and credible budget through revenue optimization, improved spending quality, and financing innovation. Measures will be taken to boost tax revenues, support strategic economic activities with fiscal incentives, and efficiently manage natural resources for the prosperity of the people.
