President Prabowo Subianto has emphasized his dedication to restructuring Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs) by eliminating the practice of awarding bonuses, known as tantiem, to SOE commissioners. This was highlighted in his keynote speech at the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2025 held at ICE BSD in Tangerang. Prabowo highlighted the mismanagement and dispersion of many SOE assets over the years. Through the consolidation of these assets under Danantara, Indonesia has established a significant global financial presence, with a sovereign fund ranking fifth globally, following countries like Norway, China, and Abu Dhabi. Despite these achievements, Prabowo condemned the awarding of bonuses to SOE commissioners, especially when companies were incurring losses, considering it unfair. He emphasized the necessity of eliminating these bonuses as part of a broader reform program aimed at promoting integrity and professionalism within state-owned enterprises. Prabowo made it explicit that those opposing these reforms are unwelcome, as there are numerous young individuals eager to take on the responsibility.
