President Prabowo Subianto is dedicated to helping the impoverished population in Indonesia by implementing various programs to not only address immediate needs but also to provide a brighter future for generations to come. The initiatives include Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School), Kopdes Merah Putih (Village Cooperatives), and MBG (Free Nutritious Meals) which are aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty and restoring dignity to those in need. Through the Sekolah Rakyat program, the government is working towards ensuring that children born into poverty do not have to inherit their parents’ struggles. President Prabowo’s administration is focused on eradicating poverty with a goal to eliminate extreme poverty by 2026 and reduce the overall national poverty rate to below 5 percent by 2029. The government’s approach includes a combination of social intervention and community empowerment programs to achieve these targets. Adita Irawati from the Presidential Communications Office highlighted the administration’s three-pronged strategy to combat poverty, which includes the People’s School initiative, Red-and-White Village Cooperatives, and Free Health Checks in Schools. The Red-and-White Village Cooperatives aim to stimulate local economies and create jobs to empower both rural and urban communities. The government is set to launch the Kopdes Merah Putih program with a target of establishing 80,000 cooperatives nationwide. These initiatives offer a model of village empowerment, enabling communities to meet their own needs and generate livelihoods through their own efforts.
